1. Data Controller

WhoCalledMe ("we", "us") operates this website. For privacy enquiries you may use the contact form on this site.

2. What we collect

  • Searched phone numbers – stored in our database to aggregate community knowledge.
  • Reviews – the rating, category, free text comment, and language code you submit.
  • Technical data – a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address (not the IP itself) used solely for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. We cannot reverse the hash back to your IP.
  • Cookies – only the cookies described in our Cookie Policy.

We do not collect names, email addresses, or precise location data from visitors. We do not require registration.

3. Legal basis

We process data under (a) our legitimate interest in providing a community-driven reverse phone lookup service that protects users from spam and scam calls (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), and (b) your explicit consent for any non-essential cookies (Art. 6(1)(a)).

4. Sharing

Aggregated data is publicly visible on this site (the searched numbers and approved reviews). We do not sell personal data. We may share data with hosting and AI providers strictly to operate the service, under contractual safeguards.

5. AI processing

To generate the summary about a phone number, the number itself is sent to an AI provider (Lovable AI Gateway). Review comments are also sent to the AI provider for moderation. The AI provider does not use this data to train its models.

6. Retention

Phone numbers and approved reviews are retained for up to 24 months from last activity. Rate-limit logs (containing only the hashed IP) are deleted after 30 days.

7. Your rights (GDPR Art. 15–22)

You can request access, rectification, deletion, restriction or objection at any time using the contact form. Since we do not collect identifiers, please include the specific review text or number you wish to act upon.

8. Children

This service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country of residence.
